Pleasently Surprised (Debug, Kettering, Ohio United States, 2009-01-05)
After reading other reviews I was concerned about the picture quality I would get with the Wii unit even at 480P (having recently purchased a 50" Samsung 1080P plasma TV). It looks pretty good!! The cartoonish games such as Wii sports and Mario Cart look very good...the more life like games are a bit fuzzy but still not too bad. Having never used the cables that came with the unit I cannot comment on how much this cable improved the picture. However, just looking at the difference in cable quality I cannot imagine there isn't a visible improvement.
Works great (Daniel Lopez Salazar, Miami, Florida United States, 2008-11-24)
This cable does what it's supposed to. It outputs the Wii signal at 480p to the TV. I have a widescreen LCD and the change is noticeable. But don't expect an amazing change, after all, we know about the limitations the Wii has. If you want to get an HD signal (720p or higher), buy an Xbox or a Ps3. This cable just provides an image that is a bit more clear.
Does what it, says it does (Adam E. Eisentrout, Fugashi, 2008-09-29)
A cheap and working alternative to expensive named brand hd component cables. Its a steal and looks lovely on my tv. Great Product!
Works, but cannot ever get 480p out of it (M. Pulaski, Runnemede, NJ United States, 2008-08-15)
Cable works with my Wii and my Sony Bravia, but I cannot get anything to come out at 480p, it always displays at 480i. Even though my menu settings in the Wii are for 480p, it just never seems to transmit that...or at least that is what my TV is reporting. I did read some other reviews where other people had this same problem and said it was the cable. I've also read where that somehow the cable tells the Wii that it is capable of carrying 480p and to "unlock" tha feature. I don't know if this is true or not. I guess I could do a test with the original cable that came with the Wii for I have yet to take that out of the packaging.
Regardless, the cable works with my Wii, just not as advertised. I also agree with other reviewers where they complain that the cable end is "bundled" and difficult to split off is you have the video part going into your TV and you want the audio part to go into your AV receiver. I had to get some additional cables at Radio Shack in order to make that happen.
Nothing wrong with it, just not too impressed (R. Cheng, NYC, 2008-08-13)
I wasn't expecting too much when I found out the Wii itself is limited to 480p. I wasn't disappointed. Looks the same to me, some people swear it's sharper, causing the curved objects to have more of a jagged edge, but I don't think that's true. It may also be that I can't tell. Overall, I would say to get this cable only if you are running short on composite inputs on your TV.
