Good Quality Cable But Wii Resolution the Same (R. Wong, San Francisco, CA, 2008-11-24)

The quality of this cable is excellent. I ordered it from DOCTOR_HOT_DEAL ($5.49 including shipping) and because it's a "generic" brand, the cable is not identical to what's shown on the product page but actually looks identical to the Wii Component A/V Cable by Intec. The color-coded ends are not solid color but stripes like Intec's. I should note that the colors on the ends are not faded/pastel-like as shown on the Intec's product image but vibrant and clear (pink is actually red).

I compared the graphics on the Wii before and after changing the TV resolution from 480-interlaced to 480-progressive and I could not see any noticeable improvement in resolution quality. In fact, it looks the same. I have a 47" LCD from LG (47LG70) with 120Hz and I was hoping to see smoother edges but no such luck. This may not be surprising since the Wii is only capable of 480 progressive vertical pixels of output compared to 1080 progressive vertical pixels of output that my TV is capable of displaying. So if you have a high definition LCD TV, you're fine with the cable that came with your Wii. But this wasn't a huge loss since the cable costs under $6 and it's unnecessary to pay more for it.

The Wii Component Av Cables are great... they look great on Zelda,Wii Sports, and Mario Kart Wii. I would choose these cables,because they're great and they're cheap.

The generic Wii component cables greatly improve the appearance of all Wii games, even though the Wii only provides EDTV (480p) performance. These cables were well worth the investment.

Lots of content in Mario Kart

I have had great time playing this game. It is a great thing to have retro circuits. The only knock is that you have to unlock more racers, but in only adds to the challenge.
